Why Edmonton:
Edmonton is one of the sunniest places in Canada with an average of 2,229 hours of sunshine per year. That’s probably why it’s also known for its friendliness. Edmonton is also known as “Canada’s Festival City” with events happening year around – check out the canoe races in the winter! It’s also known as the City of Champions thanks to the legendary Edmonton Oilers hockey team led by Wayne Gretzky in the 90’s. Whether it’s hockey, curling, soccer, or football, Edmonton’s recreational opportunities are only matched by its proximity to Wood Buffalo National Park, and Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies, with world-class camping and skiing only hours away.

Edmonton has a population of just over one million and is Canada’s fifth-largest city, but feels more like a big town, with a well-reviewed transit system. It also has over 875 parks; and lots of green space to run, play, and be creative.
